CLEANINGS & PERIODONTICS
Teeth Cleaning & Periodontic Treatment
Many people dread teeth cleanings. Between the prodding, strange noises, and occasional jaw discomfort, it’s easy to understand their apprehension. But for most, a teeth cleaning is simple and painless.
Knowing exactly what is going on during the process can help ease your stress and allow you to better enjoy the minty-fresh results.
Here are some of the unexpected benefits of teeth cleaning:
Lower risk of heart disease
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. If the bacterial infection in your mouth enters your bloodstream, it can build up in your arteries and harden. This buildup leads to a dangerous condition called atherosclerosis, a serious form of heart disease.
Healthier pregnancy
Both mild and severe gum disease is directly linked to pregnancy risks like low birth weights and early deliveries. Researchers suspect the body naturally fights the bacteria in your body, which may lead to premature labor.
Protection for your brain cells
The bacteria in your mouth aren’t the only danger associated with gum disease. If you have tartar buildup, your mouth also releases substances that kill your brain cells. Combining this with the oral bacteria entering your nerve channels and bloodstream, your risks of Alzheimer’s disease and memory loss increase.
Reduced risk of diabetes complications
Having gum disease makes it harder to manage your blood sugar levels, which can make diabetes more difficult to control. If your periodontal disease is more advanced, you might also experience increased blood sugar production.
The most important step to protecting your teeth, gums, and overall health is practicing good oral hygiene through regular brushing and flossing. It’s also essential to have regular professional cleanings to remove dangerous tartar buildup. Dr. Jalali also offers treatment solutions to address all stages of periodontal disease.

We offer different types of teeth cleanings
1- Cleaning for healthy gums or gum with mild to moderate tartar build up (Prophy)
2- Treatment for gums with moderate to severe inflammation, build up and bone loss (Periodontal treatments such as full mouth debridement or scaling and root planning).
Regular dental cleanings are an essential part of maintaining good oral hygiene, but did you know there are different levels of cleaning? Sometimes, a standard cleaning by a dental hygienist isn’t enough. If bacteria invade below your gumline, you’ll need a deep dental cleaning to restore your gums to health.
Deep cleaning is not necessary for every patient. However, for patients with gingivitis (the first stage of gum disease) or a more serious case of gum disease, deep cleaning may be required to prevent tooth loss and stop further damage.
Gum disease doesn’t always cause pain or show visible symptoms, which is why it can be difficult to know when you need a deep cleaning. However, some warning signs to look out for include:
-
Consistently bad taste or breath
-
Separating or loose permanent teeth
-
Gums that easily bleed
-
Gums that are swollen, red, or tender
-
Gums that have pulled away from your teeth
